What you'll accomplish

This guide gives you a repeatable process for turning 40–60 page insurance carrier renewal proposals into 2-page executive summaries in under 30 minutes. No more half-days spent reading, highlighting, and manually building comparison tables.

What you'll need

  • Carrier renewal proposal(s) in PDF or Word format
  • Claude account at claude.ai ({{tool:Claude.plan}} recommended for PDF uploads; free tier requires pasting text)
  • Basic familiarity with your current plan design (current deductibles, premiums, network)
  • Time needed: 30 minutes for the first proposal; 15 minutes for subsequent ones
  • Cost: {{tool:Claude.price}} for Pro (required for PDF uploads); free if copying and pasting text

How-To Guide: Summarize Benefits Carrier Proposals

Step 1: Prepare the carrier documents

Gather the carrier proposals. For the best results with Claude:

  • If using Claude Pro: Save proposals as PDFs so you can upload them directly
  • If using the free tier: Copy the key sections (executive summary, plan design comparison, premium rates, network changes) from the PDF and paste as text

What you should see: You have 2–3 carrier proposals ready, either as PDFs to upload or text to paste. Troubleshooting: If a carrier proposal is a scanned PDF (image, not text), you'll need to either manually copy the key tables or use Adobe Acrobat's OCR feature to convert it to searchable text first.
